Day 18: The chase
Ha, accidentally uploaded the wrong picture, misplaced my post from yesterday and got the wrong rhyming scheme.

Day 11: Lights
So I had a reasonably clear idea what I wanted from this photo, but then just could not make it happen at all. Tried a few different angles and devices, downloaded a photo editor (which I have never used before) and ended up with the above. Yes, it's bad, but I think that may be a good thing.
Odd? Yes, but one of the things that stops me doing my writing (other then a busy life) is the fact that I want to keep chipping away at things till they are perfect. This project forces me to settle for what I can achieve in the time limit I have. Hopefully this will be beneficial in the future.

Day 8: Tao
Another rush job (becoming a habit). Adult support at school disco along with prep for my son's birthday party meant I had to get this shot done quick.

Day 7: Armour
Today was a rush job (my son's 1 year birthday, yay Theo). I'm an awful photographer and this was a particularly bad one. Could not get the shot I wanted and in the end, running out of time, this is what I ended up with. Hopefully can do better tomorrow. Couple of obvious references here. One less obvious one (Spider #48, for those who need to know).

Day 5 comments
Some of the photos have little clues in them as to where the story is heading. Some are subtle, others a bit more like a half brick in a sock to the face. This would be one of those. Obviously the lift is from Edgar Allan Poe's "The Raven".
Something that I loved about the original Crow graphic novel by James O'Barr was the fact that it served as a touchstone to other things. Whilst some people loved it for the cathartic violence, I loved the fact it extended my learning. I was already into romantic poetry like Byron and Shelley, but it pointed me to Rimbaud and the French symbolists. I dug the Cure but didn't know about Joy Division. I think too many of the newer versions go for the violence and miss this aspect.
During this story you will see various references or Easter Eggs. They are either there as clues about the character or about myself, I leave you to decide which.

100 Days Project
So this is the blog where I will be posting each day my efforts in trying to complete the 100 Days Project (http://100daysproject.co.nz). Today is the first day and I should be posting my first day's effort in a little over an hour.
The idea behind my project is to tell a story over the 100 days. Each day I take a photo that relates to my text. I start with a single word on the first day, then two the second, up to fifty by the 50th day and finishing by going back down to 1 over the last 50 days.
Rules I've set myself? Well I'm not allowed to preplan my days writing, it all has to be done on that particular day. I am allowed to have a general theme for the writing and can research things I want to use during the story.
For those who don't know me, I have a full time job, I coach martial arts and I have two under three year olds at home, so this is going to be a big challenge, fingers crossed I survive :)
